Katie Herchenroeder is a journalist whose work focuses on gender inequity, violence against women, and politics. Currently, she’s a contributing writer for Vanity Fair’s the Hive. She’s been working as a freelance or contracted reporter since 2018. In addition to reporting, Katie has experience with fact-checking, editing, and photojournalism. Her work can be seen in publications such as Vanity Fair, Mother Jones, VICE, The New Republic, and more. She holds an M.A. in International Reporting from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism and a B.A. in International Studies and Sociology from the City College of New York. Katie sits on the communications board at CCNY and volunteers her time toward helping NYC high schools develop journalism programs. Born in Indiana and raised in Arizona, Katie is now based in Brooklyn. When she’s not writing or raging about gendered inequity, you can find Katie on a road trip or thrifting (or ideally thrifting on a road trip).
